Audley’s career has entered a new era as he confirms that award-winning brand agency Champions (UK) plc will be representing his interests and supporting his objectives.
The Leicestershire-based company, one of the first to enjoy success outside of London, has a remarkable track record when it comes to managing sports stars.
Boxing promoter Kellie Maloney, who appeared alongside Audley on Celebrity Big Brother and managed compatriot Lennox Lewis to the Undisputed Heavyweight Championship of the World, is one of Champions’ clients, while greats from other sports make up part of their repertoire, including Neil Back MBE, Peter Shilton OBE and Matthew Hoggard MBE.
Both Audley and Champions are pioneers – the former’s success at the 2000 Olympics as the first British boxer to win gold in the super heavyweight division helped paved the way for a multitude of UK fighters to excel in the sport after starring in the Olympics, including Amir Kahn, James DeGale MBE and Anthony Joshua MBE.
Meanwhile Champions are the first brand agency to effectively operate as a one-stop shop, with a unique structure of five in-house departments – creative, marketing, public relations, events and celebrity management – making life easier for clients and contributing to their huge success.
Upon signing with Champions, Audley said: “Since retiring from boxing recently, I’ve had to make adjustments and set myself fresh goals and give myself new mountains to climb.
“I did an enormous amount of research into who would best represent my interests and support my new objectives going forward. I analysed the situation and came to the conclusion that Champions Celebrity was the clear choice.
“When I look at what they’ve done for Kellie Maloney, it’s incredible. I hear they’re doing great things with Sam Bailey too and their work for Derek Redmond and his speaking career is most definitely something I’m interested in pursuing further.
“After a troubled youth and bad choices in my life, I was able to turn things around, so I want to share those experiences, especially with disadvantaged young people, and teach them how to make positive decisions about the path they want to follow.
“The whole team and set-up at Champions fit nicely with the way I see the future and I’m very excited about working with them.”
