AUDLEY'S QUOTE

“Albert Sosnowski represents a difficult challenge for me and I know he wants to keep his crown he won in December against Paolo Vidoz"

Audley Harrison vs. George Arias
Wednesday, September 03, 2008
Audley Harrison will face experienced Brazilian heavyweight champion George Arias at the MEN Arena on Saturday night over 10 rounds.

Harrison was due to fight Martin Rogan, but the Irishman pulled out with an injury.

Now Arias has stepped in to fill the breach in a fight that Harrison knows he has to win to keep his world title ambitions alive.

Arias, 34, has a 41-10 record with 29 early wins, although the first half of his career was spent at cruiserweight.

It was in that division that he traveled to London in January 2001 and dropped a points decision to WBO cruiserweight world champion Johnny Nelson.

He has also lost on points to, among others, Owen Beck and Sinan Samil Sam.

Southpaw Harrison, 22-3 (17) will have a significant height advantage and will be expected to defeat Arias.

However if he can do so in style, he could yet reignite his world title ambitions.

The 36-year-old Olympic super-heavyweight champion still believes he can reach the top despite defeats against Danny Williams, Dominick Guinn and, most recently, Michael Sprott.

He returned to action in April in Las Vegas with a straightforward points win over Jason Barnett.

Harrison-Arias will form part of the undercard of a Sky Box Office show headlined by Alex Arthur's WBO super-featherweight title defence against Nicky Cook, and Amir Khan's WBO Intercontinental Lightweight title fight against Breidis Prescott.

In other changes to the card, Paul Smith will now tackle Danny Thornton after English middleweight champion Steve Bendall withdrew injured, Anthony Crolla meets Robin Deakin, Steve Bell tackles Athony Hanna and Matthew Hall faces Taz Jones.

The night of boxing will be available to Sky digital subscribers for £14.95 on Sky Box Office channel 743 and in high definition on channel 753. It can be ordered by pressing the red button on the Sky remote handset - there is a £1 booking fee for any orders made by phone.
