Audley Harrison gives motivational speech to Team USA Olympic Water Polo Team

If you don't know how to succeed you should have been with the American Olympic Water Polo team at their last night of practice in Westlake Village before flying off to Beijing China. Many supporters and friends gathered at the Oaks Christian pool to watch the American Water Polo Team in physical training. Their endurance is amazing including their agility and tactics with the ball. It was a thrilling and exciting evening, but no one could have anticipated the surprise appearance of Olympic Gold Medal Winner Audley Harrison and what he had to say to the team.
Before jumping in the Olympic size pool to work out, the entire team was assembled pool side by Coach Terry Schroeder. After some opening remarks Coach Schroeder introduced Harrison. At first, most visitors had no idea who he was, or even what Harrison was doing there. However, it didn't take long to figure it out and the buzz in the crowd traveled quickly.
Harrison begins his short remarks about his own experience on becoming a gold medallist in Sydney Australia in the year 2000. As he spoke many spectators moved in closer to also hear his remarks meant only for the team. Harrison went on to explain how he also trained relentlessly and aspired passionately to winning the coveted prize. He found that mental attitude is just as important as the physical preparation, and he asked each team member to focus their thoughts on the final prize of winning, and not be distracted by the events that will be surrounding them as they move on to China. As he was speaking he reaches to insert his I-pod into a small portable speaker that sent familiar music throughout the pool area. He asked the team to close their eyes and envision their team at the Beijing Olympic Games. In the back ground we could hear the Star Spangle Banner becoming louder and the roar of the crowd increasing. As he spoke of receiving the gold medal along side the waving American flag it was a spine tingling experience even for those in the bleachers, whether young or not |
